Our studio was super honored when Eszter Radnóczy got asked to talk about the design and construction of the TRIBE Budapest Airport hotel on the latest episode of the international Design&Me video channel by Accor.

The short film reveals interesting facts about the hotel project, with Gabriella Patai, Accor’s design director for Eastern Europe, as the interviewer.

What does design mean to you?

“Design and me, it is a permanent creation where form follows function and functions serve the aesthetic of life.”

Take a look at our Design & Me video about one of our recently completed projects, where Eszter talks about the design challenges and personal experiences behind the TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel.

Eszter in two words: charisma and flexibility

A recent interview with interior designer Eszter Radnóczy on the Art is Business website.

„Eszter Radnóczy has been working as the head of the interior design firm este’r partners, which also strengthens Italian-Hungarian relations, for twenty years now. The architectural studio, which strives for genuine partnerships, boasts countless successes both at home and abroad, from Denmark to Germany. Here are just a few examples: the recently opened Tribe Budapest Airport hotel, the Petit Bois in Balatonfüred, which won the special prize in the Balaton House of the Year competition, as well as the iconic Zazie Bistro and the Generális House in Tokaj. This time, we talked in the snow-white office of the family villa in Szentendre, surrounded by the works of Eszter’s husband’s grandfather, painter and teacher Béla Apáti Abkarovics.”

How tiling becomes more sustainable?

Have you heard about the 4th dimension of tile production?

My colleagues and I visited the Valley of Tiles to see how manufacturing is becoming more environmentally conscious, as well as looking at the new collections.

In Reggio Emilia, a fourth dimension has emerged in tile production. The heating of factory kilns with hydrogen is a sustainable and environmentally friendly technology. The Iris Ceramica Group has pioneered this field by opening the world’s first green hydrogen ceramics factory in Castellarano. This project has created a unique industrial process that sets new standards in the ceramics industry and contributes to the decarbonisation of the sector.  The factory produces green hydrogen from renewable energy sources such as solar power and uses rainwater for electrolysis, which breaks the water down into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is then used to heat the furnaces, and the water vapour from the combustion process is released back into the atmosphere, reducing CO₂ emissions.

In addition to incineration technology, dematerialisation is an important sustainability aspect.

Emilgroup produces large slabs of tiles using heat and drying. Slow firing de-stresses the tiles and allows the materials to be thinned. The Laminam factory, for example, can reduce the thickness of tiles to as little as 2 mm while maintaining their flexibility. The lightweight, large sheets reduce transport and handling costs. They are also ideal for renovation work, where they can be installed on existing surface layers without demolition.

The development of surface treatment technology also plays a major role in the aesthetic renewal of tile production. Touch, surface play, 800 dpi printing and full body technology are all tools that enhance the aesthetic experience of products. The stone-like materials that ripple to the touch bring the feel of real stone. 800 dpi printing allows the creation of highly detailed patterns on tiles. The full body technology means that the tiles have the same colour and pattern throughout the entire material, not just on the surface, so they retain their aesthetic qualities even when worn and their cross-section has a stone effect.

Together, these innovations contribute to a more sustainable and aesthetically high-quality product for the tile industry, while reducing the environmental impact.

Contemporary elegance in Buda – photos of the latest project by este’r partners

Nestled among the hills of Buda and embraced by forests, lies the estate of a renowned international producer; the interior of the new home was designed by este’r partners. The masculine villa with minimalist spaces is a real smart-home: it epitomizes the most modern design in a contemporary setting, its clean interiors and design solutions are centered around recharging and relaxation.

“We designed a reduced, black and white world for our client, a successful producer. It turned out at our first meetings that he is a passionate art collector, so this became the focal point of the interior design. From the very first moment, this project was a joy to work on, our client’s Anglo-Saxon elegance has set the direction for the project and his exquisite taste have been well reflected in the unified interior” – says Eszter Radnóczy interior designer, founder of este’r partners.

In Budapest’s new villa district, the architectural concept follows the terraced landscape, a sleek pool, sun loungers and a barbecue area can be found horizontally, the lower level of the house has a living room, kitchen and a community area while the upper level includes the bedrooms. A gorgeous black spiral staircase twists through the floors ending in a lookout point and a stunning roof terrace, these are the highest points of the house.

Sunny, bright spaces abound in the entire villa, the furniture oozes elegance with its classic black and white monochrome interior coupled with premium, light color scheme. Several state-of-the-art features were incorporated in the matt-glass front kitchen. The bed and the sofa are custom-made by the Italian Living Divani while the upholstery and the textiles were designed by este’r partners’ team selecting from the finest quality assortment of JAB Textil, Flukso and Radici. Most elements of this smart home are high-tech: curtains, fireplaces, blinds are electric, the kitchen includes smart solutions, and projectors ensure the highest quality movie experience.

Artworks, photographs and film documents – evoking the world of cinema – are dominant elements of the house, all enhancing the unique interior with cool details and a touch of humor.

Designed by este’r partnerts, the elegance and simplicity of this luxurious estate is everything a home was meant to be: refreshing, cozy, inspiring and relaxing.

„Redukált, fekete-fehér világot építettünk megrendelőnk, a sikeres filmipari szakember számára.

A smart otthon legtöbb eleme high-tech megoldásokkal bír: elektromos irányításúak a függönyök, a kandalló, az árnyékolók, okos a konyha, projektorok biztosítják a filmélményhez a csúcsminőséget.

Photo gallery: Hotel Marina-Port in Balatonkenese opens with fresh design solutions

Este’r partners has designed a fresh interior concept for one of Lake Balaton’s most popular, family-friendly hotel complexes. The hotel welcomes guests this summer season with a renewed lobby and common areas, but the development continues, focusing on the rest of the building.

“The hotel in Balatonkenese has been renovated with light, harmonious spaces; we fell in love with the client’s vision and designed a modest and close-to-nature interior. Our primary focus was to enhance the sense of arrival so now the spaces of Marina Port invite everyone including couples, families, business travelers as well as sailors to unwind.” says interior designer Eszter Radnóczy, founder of este’r partners.

Képgaléria: ilyen lett a megújult balatonkenesei Hotel Marina-Port

A Balaton egyik legkedveltebb, családbarát szállodakomplexumának friss belsőépítészeti koncepciója valósult meg az este’r partners tervezésében. A szálloda a nyári szezonban már megújult lobby-val és közösségi terekkel várja a vendégeket, a fejlesztés később a szálloda további tereivel folytatódik.

A most megújult hotel organikus belső terei a természetközeliséget hangsúlyozzák, hiszen a szállodakomplexum közvetlenül kapcsolódik a Balatonhoz és a balatonkenesei kikötőhöz.

About us

Eszter12

Twelve topics, twelve year-end and year-opening thoughts from Eszter Radnóczy: happy new year from este’r partners and the Estorio team!

2023.

2023 was a year of continuation, reflection and structuring. I think it’s difficult to assess achievements and progress in years, and the professional life of este’r partners can rather be evaluated in periods of a few years. The major work started in 2022 and continued this year, so it was a busy one, full of design work. We have also expanded our team and added new projects to our portfolio.

Balatonfüred.

The boutique hotel created from the renovation of the Rodostó villa in Balatonfüred is another project of ours where we have continued to provide professional support this year. We look forward to the opening of the 5-star villa hotel, a real landmark of the city in its full glory in 2024.

HOTEL BALATONFÜRED RODOSTÓ

Airport.

The hotel, designed by este’r partners, developed by Wing Zrt, is already starting to stand out at the airport. The 168-room, four-star hotel is being developed to offer affordable luxury as part of the expansion of the TRIBE hotel brand in Europe. Its design is dynamic, timeless, international, long-lasting, with a small eclectic and artistic touch.

Boat.

The Danube Event Boat is one of our unique projects, which is in the construction phase in parallel with the planning and the design. Rebuilding a boat requires different use of materials, due to humidity, movement and the thermal expansion of structural iron. These challenges need to be addressed while designing a huge, multi-functional, one-of-a-kind floating-mobile hospitality venue. It will be an event venue unique in size and also in design.

Italy.

I am very grateful that our work has been recognized by the Italian press this year and that we have been featured in several publications, such as Domus Magazine.

Szentendre.

Szentendre will always be the heart of our professional work, the majority of the design work continues to take place here. In the last 8 years since we moved in the villa, we have filled it to the point where we are almost running out of space. We still love working here because we are surrounded by a creative, elegant and green environment.

Opera.

Music and opera have become part of the Estorio’s life since it opened nearly 2 years ago. We have also announced a call for entries for the Budapest Design Week, the winning textiles were based on quite fascinating ideas and were awarded by the Opera’s press.

Hotel.

Hotel planning is a special field within interior design. We are not only involved in the design but also regularly in the construction. At the beginning of the year, we opened the completely rebuilt community spaces of the former Artotel Budapest (now known as Park Plaza Budapest), where we were responsible for the project management and the general construction.

HOTEL OKTOGON HAGGENMACHER

Zazie.

One of our favorite projects completed this year was Zazie Bistro, which opened at the Mol Campus.

It was exciting to design a bistro with a relaxing beach vibe in a modern office setting, behind a long glass facade. The atmosphere of the Kopaszi-gát bay has inspired the space where flow experience leads you to the tables, like landing on a small sand dune on the Danube.

ZAZIE BISTRO

Estorio.

Estorio will celebrate its second birthday this year, in 2024. 2023 has been about strengthening Estorio’s activities: we have built many business relationships and friendships in the industry and we have also further deepened our cooperation with our partners. We’re also delighted that Estorio’s sales have been so successful.

We have organized many inspiring workshops and events, and have signed exclusive distribution agreements with Valcucine, Flukso, Dutch Wall Textile and Cosy International.

Team.

Our versatile activity requires a real teamwork, where colleagues with different competences and know-how support each other.

Naturally, this also means a division of tasks and a clear definition of responsibilities.

2024.

2024 will be a year of fine-tuning to continue our success. I am confident that after our short break, we will be able to continue all the projects we have started, recharged and filled with fresh travel experiences, and the new year will bring new things!
